When one thinks of Hugh Grant, one doesn’t think of horror flicks. And while the actor has branched into genre before, most recently by playing the deviant Forge Fitzwilliam in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (shown above), it’s hard to picture Grant in a scary role. It’s good to try new things, however, and it looks like Grant is diving into horror with the latest project from the A Quiet Place creatives.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grant is in talks to join Heretic, and has had talks with A Quiet Place creators Scott Beck and Bryan Woods about starring in the film, which they will be directing.
We don’t have details on what the movie is actually about, though THR’s sources describe it as a story that “centers on two missionaries that attempt to convert a dangerous man.” To make things more intriguing, Deadline’s sources tell a slightly different story, with the movie focused “on two young women of faith who are lured into a cat-and-mouse game in the home of an eccentric man.”
This is pure speculation, but it seems likely that Grant is likely in talks to play this eccentric/dangerous man, perhaps even… the titular heretic?! This, again is all conjecture, and we’ll likely have to wait a bit—the project doesn’t even have producers yet—before the A24 film scares its way into a theater near you.
